My love for animal training began with horses. As a teenager, I spent over a decade riding and showing in competitions around the country. I was fortunate to work with skilled trainers who taught me how to build trust and form real partnerships with animals—lessons I carry into my work today.
I later transitioned into leadership development and executive coaching in the corporate world, where I helped people succeed in their roles. When I began volunteering at the Atlanta Humane Society in 2013, it felt like coming full circle—combining my love for animals with the science of learning and behavior. That experience inspired me to pursue professional dog training, working with both pet and service dogs.
I’ve always believed that good trainers never stop learning. I became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and later a Certified Service Dog Coach (SDC). I studied behavior science with Dr. Susan Friedman, completed Duke University’s Dog Emotion and Cognition course, and stay active in the professional community through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. I also serve as an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
I live with my husband Don and our menagerie of animals in Canton, GA. I’m grateful to do work that makes a difference—helping dogs and their people succeed through kind, effective, and practical training.

Coco, Resident Puppy Socializer and Friend to All
Coco the Bernedoodle officially joined the family in 2025 at four years old, but her connection to BK9 began much earlier. Jeanne first met Coco when she arrived for puppy training at just eight weeks old, and the bond was instant. As Coco’s family traveled often, she became a frequent guest at BK9 over the years. With her calm and stable nature and exceptional social skills, Coco now plays a special role in helping young dogs learn the ropes and become well-mannered canine citizens.
